Artists at work

We have been busy at interchange over the last three weeks learning some painting skills. We used shaving foam and PVA glue to make puffy paint for our snowmen. Last week we painted our background by mixing the secondary colours - purple, orange and green. This week we cut out all the details and put them together.

Patterns, patterns, patterns

We have a great bunch of new children who are part of our Te Waka o Matariki group.  These children are new to school and are learning about the different things that we do at school and we work on some goals to make sure we are ready for learning.
This week, the Te Waka o Matariki group are focusing on making patterns.  Some of us find this tricky but we have had a practice and tried again today and we had some great results.  We are all very proud of the patterns we made.
Tomorrow some of us are going to have a challenge to see if we can make an even more tricky pattern.

Waitresses at Work

Our waitresses this week at the Discovery Time Cafe were amazing!  First they got our onion dip ready.  Spot how collaborative they are, helping each other to solve problems and then make sure that everyone has a turn.
Then they looked after their customers so well.  They showed them to a seat, explained about the onion dip and the hummus and then checked to see that the customers were enjoying their food and time in the cafe.  After all of that, they even did the dishes!  And with big smiles on their faces.
Congratulations girls on being such wonderful waitresses.
We had some great chatty customers too that gave great feedback on the dips.  It was a split about which one was the best this week.
Come back next week to see what the new menu contains.

Humpty Dumpty is broken!

Oh no!  Humpty Dumpty has fallen off his wall and we need to try and stick him back together again!  We were practising our cutting skills as well as showing compassion to Humpty Dumpty.  Once all the pieces were cut out we had to put him back together again, like a puzzle, using sticking plasters to stick him together.

Assembly Stars

This week we welcomed 4 new students to our class.  Reicela had her big sister Anja introduce her to the school.  Martin had his big brother Nachito introduce him to the whole school.  We also welcomed Reina who has a big sister in Room 9 and Mason whose family is new to our school.  We hope all you enjoyed your first week at school.
