We have been making patterns with special stamps and also on gingerbread men this week.  Spot our great concentration as we find the right colours to put on our gingerbread men!

Artists at work

We have been busy at interchange over the last three weeks learning some painting skills. We used shaving foam and PVA glue to make puffy paint for our snowmen. Last week we painted our background by mixing the secondary colours - purple, orange and green. This week we cut out all the details and put them together.

Humpty Dumpty is broken!

Oh no!  Humpty Dumpty has fallen off his wall and we need to try and stick him back together again!  We were practising our cutting skills as well as showing compassion to Humpty Dumpty.  Once all the pieces were cut out we had to put him back together again, like a puzzle, using sticking plasters to stick him together.

Assembly Stars

This week we welcomed 4 new students to our class.  Reicela had her big sister Anja introduce her to the school.  Martin had his big brother Nachito introduce him to the whole school.  We also welcomed Reina who has a big sister in Room 9 and Mason whose family is new to our school.  We hope all you enjoyed your first week at school.

Te Waka o Matariki

When we first come to school we start in Te Waka o Matariki.  This is where a group of us learn what school is all about and we practice some things that we will need to be successful at school.
This week we have been learning the poem 'Humpty Dumpty'.  We have been practising our scissor skills while we make grass, bricks and Humpty Dumpty.  We are nearly finished so come back and see our great pictures next week.

Interchange

Today we started our new interchange rotations.  We started in our Homebase classroom.  In homebase one we are improving our painting skills.  In homebase two we are improving our music skills.  In homebase three we are improving our drama skills.
We had a great time at painting today.  We used shaving foam and PVA glue to make puffy paint.  We used the puffy paint to make the outline of a snowman.  We had to make three circles on our paper.  It was tricky to make our circles puffy and to only use one finger so we didn't squash it down!  It felt very soft and smooth and it made our classroom smell nice.
Next week we are going to begin to paint the background for our snowman.  We also need to make a nose, eyes, arms and buttons for our snowmen.
Hopefully we will see some snow soon.
