Numbers before and after

The hexagon maths group have been learning to say the number that comes 'before'.  Today they worked with a partner to find the numbers to put on our game board.  Some of us found it tricky to work with a partner and next time we need to make sure that we are helping each other.  This will also help us to check our work and our thinking.  We learnt today that a partner helps us with our learning so we should try to work together to finish the activity.  We would be showing respect, tolerance and excellence.

Numeracy Learning

Today the Hexagons were learning to count backwards and work out the number that comes before.  We played a cool game called Lily Pads.  We had to say the numbers as we jumped on them and then when Miss Browne called out stop, we all had to write down the number that came before.  Here is a fuzzy photo of Larry who thoroughly enjoyed his numeracy learning today!  He is looking back to see what number came before.

Number learning

We are learning how to recognise and form the numbers to 10.  We made the numbers with playdough and then stuck the correct number of sticks into them to match.

Maths Number Swotting

We learnt a new game for numeracy.  Inside the pockets of this mat there are our number cards.  When we roll two dice, one person adds them together and then calls out the number.  Two other people have to try and hit the number with their fly swot.  Today the boys won - they were much faster at finding the numbers than the girls.  Congratulations boys!
