Waitresses at Work

Our waitresses this week at the Discovery Time Cafe were amazing!  First they got our onion dip ready.  Spot how collaborative they are, helping each other to solve problems and then make sure that everyone has a turn.

Then they looked after their customers so well.  They showed them to a seat, explained about the onion dip and the hummus and then checked to see that the customers were enjoying their food and time in the cafe.  After all of that, they even did the dishes!  And with big smiles on their faces.  

Congratulations girls on being such wonderful waitresses.

We had some great chatty customers too that gave great feedback on the dips.  It was a split about which one was the best this week.

What's on the menu this week?

At our reflection time last week, we decided that we would like to have dip on the menu at Discovery Time.  So it was up to the waiters this week to prepare the classic onion dip and hummus.  They also had to cut the celery into sticks and Miss Browne chopped the very crunchy carrots for us.

Part of the waiters job was to try to teach the customers not to double dip!  There were some successes here.  They also had to help the customers to only have a few pieces of the vegetables so that there was enough for everyone who wanted to try them.

Another part of the waiters job was to ask their customers about their meal at the cafe.  We practised asking the question "Which dip did you like?" and then to ask for more information by saying "Why was that your favourite dip?"  Here are some of the replies including "I liked the hummus because it has lemon."  "I liked the dip because it was smooth."  "I liked the hummus because I have it at home."  "I liked the dip because it was yummy."

We are going to have more dip again next week so that everyone can try this at our cafe.

 "I can squeeze the lemon because we did this at the start of the year when we made lemonade."  Well done Nathan on making connections between your learning!

Discovery Time Cafe

This week the cafe opened with two items on the menu - warm milo and juice.  Waitresses showed customers to the table, took their orders and delivered their order, checking that they enjoyed their drink.  Conversation was flowing this week with stories from some very busy weekends.

Porridge playdough was also a hit this week along with our new puzzles.  What an interesting cafe we have!

The cafe is OPEN!

Our Cafe has opened at Discovery Time.  This week we had some great waiters and waitresses who had milo and juice on the menu.  They showed us to our seats, took our orders, checked that we liked our drink and then washed all the dishes!  We had a great time ordering, drinking and chatting to our friends.  It was exciting having puzzles at the cafe too!  

We are wondering what will be on the menu next week.
