Being Scientists - videos

Being Scientists

We had some scientists come from the University of Canterbury.
Dr Sarah Masters and her students showed us some experiments about things that were cold.
They showed us what can happen to things like rubber hosing and lettuce when they are in the freezing cold.  They also showed us what can happen to our teeth after drinking fizzy drink.  We should brush our teeth after drinking it to look after our teeth!
Then they put two clear or see through liquids together and mixed it.  It turned white and hard and could be set on fire!
Then it was our turn!  We had to wear safety glasses to protect our eyes.  We learnt that molecules can join together.  When they join together they can't move as fast.  That is just like us when we hold hands and try to move.
We mixed two see through liquids together and we made goo!  We tipped it out on the table and played with it.
We had such an awesome morning being scientists!
