Day two...

Today we began to learn some routines that we have in our classroom.  We started learning our alphabet sounds in a time we call phonics.  We write on whiteboards, learning how to form the letter correctly and learn the sound and name of the letter.  We also read a big book together called 'Davy D's Dog".  We can also listen to it on the tape recorder.  We went outside for fitness and learnt how to play a game called Leap Frog with a partner.  When we get really good at it we will be able to have races.

We also drew a picture today and dyed the background red or yellow.  We are going to use this tomorrow at writing time and then display our work in our classroom.

A popular area in our classroom is our shop area.  At the moment we are learning how to show respect to all the things in the shop, show respect to each other by taking turns and then by packing it all away where it belongs.  We can use this space when we have finished other learning in the classroom.

An exciting development occured today when our first caterpillar moved from being in a 'j' shape into a chrysalis.  Great spotting by the children meant that we were able to watch part of this process.

This afternoon we showed Miss Browne how clever we were with our handwriting.  It took a long time but everyone can be proud of the effort that they put into their work.

We also drew the wings for our dragonflies, putting in more detail after looking at some pictures on the computer.  Some of us were great leaders and showed the children who were not at school yesterday, how to make the first part of their dragonfly's.
