Investigations

This term we are continuing to learn about Energy.  We used three different forms of energy to cook an egg.  We used a frying pan to fry an egg, a stove to boil an egg and the microwave to poach an egg.  Here are some photos of what we did to poach our egg.
First we got a bowl of water and our egg.
Then we cracked the egg into the water.  We could see the yellow yolk in the middle and some clear liquid around the outside.
Next we put the bowl into the microwave to cook.
It didn't take very long to cook the egg.
We had to check that the egg was cooked.  We can see that the clear part around the yolk has changed colour to white.
When it was cooked, we tipped the water out.
Finally, the egg was ready to be eaten.  We poked a spoon into the yolk and it spilled out.  Eggs cooked like this are great on toast.
